Recovery Modality

Cupping Therapy

Suction-based decompression to release fascia, boost circulation, and speed recovery.

Cupping uses controlled suction to lift and decompress tissue — releasing fascial restriction, improving local circulation, and helping muscles recover faster between sessions. Included with every Personal Training and Recovery Session, applied by your certified trainer as part of your protocol.

What Is Cupping

A Traditional Technique, Applied with Precision

Cupping uses medical-grade glass or silicone cups to create localized suction on the skin and underlying tissue. The negative pressure lifts and decompresses the area — the opposite mechanical action of a deep-tissue massage, which compresses tissue instead.

That lifting action draws blood flow to the surface, helps release fascial adhesions, and creates space between muscle layers that can feel tight or restricted after training.

At Surge, cupping is applied by your certified trainer as part of your Personal Training or Recovery Session — never as a standalone treatment, always integrated into your broader protocol.

THE METHODS

Three Techniques, One Session

What to Expect

Applied Within Your Session

Cupping is layered into your existing Personal Training or Recovery Session — no separate appointment, no extra time carved out.

Paired With Other Modalities

Often combined with NeuX stimulation or red light therapy in the same session — maximizing the combined effect on circulation and fascia.

About the marks: Cupping may leave temporary circular redness or discoloration on the skin.

This is a normal response from increased circulation — not bruising — and typically fades within 1–3 days.

Static Cupping

Cups are placed and held in position for several minutes, creating sustained suction over a targeted area. Best for chronic tightness and deep fascial restriction.

Dynamic Cupping

Cups glide across the skin with light oil, combining suction with movement. The most commonly used method at Surge — effective for larger muscle groups and general circulation.

Flash Cupping

Cups are applied and released in rapid succession — a lighter, faster technique used to stimulate circulation without extended suction time.

BENEFITS

Why Cupping

Cupping isn’t a stand-alone treatment — it’s a tool your trainer reaches for when your body needs it, integrated into the sessions you already book.

Faster Recovery Between Sessions

Increased circulation and fascial release help reduce muscle soreness and speed the return to full training intensity.

Releases Tight, Restricted Fascia

Suction lifts and separates tissue layers, reaching adhesions that deep pressure alone often can’t access.

Boosts Local Circulation

Draws fresh blood flow to the treated area, supporting nutrient delivery and recovery in stressed tissue.

Zero Downtime

Applied within your existing session — no separate appointment, no extra recovery time needed afterward.

Trainer-Guided Technique

Every application is performed by your certified trainer, who selects the method and placement based on how your tissue responds.

Complements NeuX & Red Light Therapy

Often paired with other Surge modalities in the same session to compound the recovery effect.

PRICING & ACCESS

Included in Every Eligible Session

Cupping at Surge is not a standalone appointment or a paid upgrade — it's a complementary technique available upon request within your Personal Training or Recovery Session.

Your trainer applies it where it delivers the most value for your specific session — targeting restricted fascia, boosting circulation, or as part of a broader recovery protocol alongside NeuX and red light therapy.

The result: access to trainer-guided cupping technique, applied with medical-grade cups, at no additional cost beyond your standard session rate.

WHO BENEFITS

Who Cupping Is For

Strength & Recovery Athletes

Anyone training consistently who wants an edge in recovery between sessions — cupping helps tissue bounce back faster.

Competitive Performance Athletes

Athletes preparing for competition benefit from the circulation boost and fascial release cupping provides before and after intense training.

Clients Managing Tightness or Restriction

If certain areas consistently feel tight or restricted despite training and stretching, cupping reaches tissue layers other techniques can miss.

Anyone Wanting Targeted, Localized Relief

Cupping is precise — your trainer can focus it exactly where you need it, whether that’s shoulders, back, hips, or legs.

CLIENT RESULTS

What Clients Experience

“Had a level 2 ankle sprain in January. Was recovering very slow and aggravating it constantly. A friend recommended these guys and did a free session. The next 1–2 days after that my ankle improved 50%. Did a session once a week for two months and got 100% back. Would have taken 4–6 months otherwise.”

FAQ

Common Questions

Have a specific question? Contact us at (614) 887-6212.

Does cupping hurt, and will it leave marks?

Most clients describe the sensation as a firm pulling or tightness — not pain. It may leave temporary circular redness or discoloration; this is a normal response from increased circulation, not bruising, and typically fades within 1–3 days.

Do I need to request it, or is it automatic?

It's available upon request. When you book your session or arrive, let your trainer know you'd like cupping included. They'll determine the best method and placement within your session protocol.

How long does cupping take within a session?

Typically 10–15 minutes, depending on the target area and technique used. Your trainer integrates it into the overall session structure, so it doesn't replace or shorten your training time.

Are there any situations where cupping isn't recommended?

Cupping isn't recommended over broken skin, active bruising, or certain circulatory conditions. Let your trainer know about any relevant health details before your session, and they'll adjust or skip it if needed.

How does cupping pair with NeuX and red light therapy?

Very well — they target different biological mechanisms and complement each other effectively. NeuX drives neuromuscular activation and blood flow; red light therapy works at the cellular level; cupping addresses fascial restriction and circulation directly. Your trainer designs the combination based on your session goals.
